Venus sign and Mars sign: how you love, and how you want

The Sun sign tells you almost nothing about how someone is in a relationship. Two Scorpio Suns can be a devoted homebody and a serial flirt. The difference is Venus and Mars: the planet of what you love and the planet of what you chase.

Venus vs Mars: the difference

RVenus is attraction, affection, pleasure, and what you find beautiful. It's the receiving side of love: what draws you in, how you show care, what makes you feel valued. It also governs money and taste, because those are values too.

In synastry (comparing two charts), the Venus-Mars connections are the ones people feel first.

• Venus square Mars across the charts: attraction with an edge. Exciting, argumentative, rarely boring, sometimes not sustainable without other supporting aspects.
• Venus-Venus harmony: shared taste, easy affection, the couple that likes the same restaurant.
• Mars-Mars square: two fighting styles that clash. Fine if both know it; rough if neither does.

Venus and Mars describe attraction and heat. They don't describe whether the relationship lasts; that's Saturn, the Moon, and the houses. A hot Venus-Mars contact with nothing else supporting it is a great three months.
